YOUNG CREATORS 2022: New York Edition at NYFW

A new Gen of Young Creators are making their big statements on the runway, especially during New York Fashion Week. Since the Pandemic, there have been more and more young designers hoping to be the next best “young designer “on the Ones to Watch list, and now the CFDA interim short list.

Whether the catwalk is Uptown, Downtown or in Brooklyn, the variety of fashion on the runway can range from Streetwear collections to Designer Collections; from bling bling evening to the trending No gender | Unisex fashion and the favorite of the season again: Sustainable Fashion.

Though raw and perhaps not altogether ready for the traditional form of runway, the excited creators are collaborating together at events and are creating a community of creators that work and flaunt their goods on a catwalk, and have ready to buy now or pre-order. Working with AfterPay is also helping the new Fashion Gen maximize their online sales potential and gain some more community support for their product.

Here are some highlights from the runway, which include young streetwear designers, sustainable designers, and students from multiple fashion schools including Art Institute and Miami Design Students were at Runway Muse and Runway Muse Awards at Sony Center. Pia Bolte and Black Merchants caught our attention at Street Fashion Week, and a live musical performance by Daniel Jude kept us going during Potro’s show at Runway 7 at Sony Center, before the Bartschland colorful extravagance. Gloria Lee’s heart filled cute collection debuted at BreakFree NYFW just in time for VDAY!
