Nine Pre-Fall Finds Making Me Excited for Fall

It’s almost fall, y’all, and I’m not quite ready to say goodbye to summer. But I am excited to share some of my favorite pre-fall finds with you. From fashion and beauty to books, accessories and a few unexpected discoveries, these are the things catching my attention right now.

You know my style by now. I’m always looking for things that are comfortable, useful and fabulous enough to make me want to wear or use them again and again. And if something makes getting dressed, traveling, walking around New York or simply getting through the day a little more fun, even better. Here are nine of my current favorites.

Pants of the Day: Wide-Leg Pants for Fall

Black wide-leg ponte pants from Ripley Rader
Comfortable, flattering and travel-friendly, these wide-leg pants are my current pre-fall favorite.

If you know my day-to-day vibe, you know I practically live in pants. Comfort is always important to me, but style is never optional, so I’m always looking for that perfect combination of both. Lately, I’ve been changing things up a bit. Instead of my usual bootcut silhouettes, I’m reaching for wider legs and longer lengths, and my current obsession is a fabulously comfortable pair of black trousers from Ripley Rader.

Made in ponte, these pants have the wide-leg shape I’m loving right now while still being incredibly easy to wear, pack and change into. Black is, of course, my favorite, but they come in a range of colors. Even better, they come in three different lengths, which is a very fabulous detail when you actually want your pants to fit the way you want them to. Mine are the long version with a 34-inch outseam. The regular is 30 inches and the cropped version is 27 inches. Comfortable, flattering, easy to travel with and woman-owned? I’m in. @ripleyrader

Bag of the Day: A Reversible Handbag

I may have found the cutest little handbag ever, and it has a secret: it’s actually two bags in one.

When I think about handbags these days, I’m looking for lightweight, cute and roomy enough for the essentials. I need space for my phone, wallet and makeup bag, but I no longer want to carry a heavy handbag covered in giant chains just because it looks fashionable. For evenings and fashion events, I still want something dressy, but lightweight is now a requirement.

Meet the Daneault’s Robbie, a very cute and very versatile handbag that is reversible. Yes, reversible. I have the blue and beige version, and I love how easily it transitions from one color to another. The details are beautifully considered, and the magnetic closure makes changing the look practically effortless.

I’m a big believer in using my favorite things on repeat, and this gives one handbag multiple looks, seasons and outfits. That’s the kind of versatility I appreciate. Daneault is woman-owned and founded by Penny Crook, and every handbag is crafted using Leather Working Group-certified leather. There are four models in the reversible collection, so there’s plenty to explore. @shopdaneault

Books of the Day: Vogue Fashion Books

Vogue Fashion Books for Fall
Beautiful fashion photography is always better when you can turn the pages.

There is something about a beautiful fashion book that digital simply cannot replace. Who doesn’t love a gorgeous coffee table book filled with scenes from Vogue? We live in a digital world, and yes, AI can create almost anything these days, but I still love picking up an actual book, turning the pages and getting lost in the photographs.

Fashion books can take you somewhere else entirely. Exotic locations, supermodels, couture, celebrities and those unforgettable images created around Vogue shoots become a kind of visual escape. The photography is phenomenal and inspiring, and sometimes all it takes is a beautiful image to spark an entirely new creative thought.

Two that I’m particularly loving are Vogue on Location: People, Places, Portraits and Vogue and the Metropolitan Museum of Art: Parties, Exhibitions, People. Fabulously chic, visually inspiring and exactly the kind of thing I want sitting on my coffee table. Some things are simply better when you can flip through the pages.

Moisturizer of the Day: Peptide Body Creme

Tube of MdF Peptide Body Creme
rich, luxurious body creme that makes everyday skincare feel a little more special.

Clean beauty meets seriously easy body care with MdF Peptide Body Creme, and I’m loving the tube. It’s rich and creamy without leaving that greasy feeling I don’t want from a body moisturizer. The scent is wonderfully earthy and luxurious, and I love layering it during the day or putting it on before bed and enjoying that subtle scent for myself.

The tube feels luxurious, too, while being practical enough to use everywhere. The formula is packed with multi-peptides, niacinamide and vitamin-rich oils, and it makes a lovely gift for anyone who appreciates elevated everyday beauty. MdF’s formula is 98% natural, vegan, nut-free and cruelty-free, with a pH-balanced formula that is silicone-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and PEG-free.

Founded by the co-creator of cult favorite Grown Alchemist, MdF approaches skincare with the idea that skin health is functional rather than fantastical. Sleep, stress, diet, hormones and environment all play a role, and I like that philosophy. @mdf_beauty_official

Belt of the Day: The Arcade Carry Adventure Belt

Mint green Arcade Adventure Belt
A lightweight performance belt that works just as well with everyday outfits as it does for adventures.

You don’t actually need an adventure to wear my new favorite casual belt, but the Arcade Carry Adventure Belt is certainly ready for one. Airport security? Check. Climbing? Check. Keeping your jeans exactly where they belong? Also check.

What I love about this belt is that it can do so much more than hold up your pants. I can add it to a jacket, use it to cinch in a top or style up something oversized. And somehow, it still feels comfortable when I sit down. No giant buckle, no unnecessary weight and no feeling like you’re wearing a piece of equipment around your waist. The elastic is designed for performance, but I’m calling it fashionable performance. It’s also unisex, which makes it an easy addition to anyone’s wardrobe.

This isn’t my first time talking about Arcade, and the newest model has caught my eye in mint. It has performance stretch and a custom fit, giving this practical accessory a little more personality. Because sometimes the smallest styling trick can make the biggest difference.

Blushing All the Time: Cream Blush

Wonderblush Le Fondant Cream Blush
A soft, natural-looking cream blush for that polished-without-looking-made-up effect.

Apparently, I’m blushing all the time now, and I’m completely okay with it.

My newest addition to my flawless-face makeup routine is Wonderblush, and after seeing the brand and meeting the founder in person at the Chelsea Hotel, I agreed to give it a try. Now I can’t seem to leave home without it. Le Fondant Cream Blush has a smooth texture that glides beautifully onto the skin, and I love that it can be used on both cheeks and lids. I’m wearing the shade Aube, a soft neutral with just enough color to make a difference without making it look like I’m actually wearing much makeup.

That is exactly the effect I want. I still look like I have no makeup on, just a little more polished and alive. I originally considered going for a brighter color, but Aube has become such an easy everyday favorite that I’m very glad I started here. It’s effortless, flattering and perfect for my current flawless-face-no-makeup look. And yes, it’s woman-owned / family-owned by Mélanie and her husband. @wonderblush

Slide Into Support: Stylish Supportive Slippers

Speckled Cow Maya backless mule slipper by Mave & Chaze
Stylish enough to wear beyond the house, with the support and comfort I want at home.

How about a slipper shoe that has the support you want at home but enough fashion credibility to come out of the house?I’m very excited about this one. For years, I wore an indoor pair of sneakers with orthotics because I wanted support at home. After years as an aerobics instructor and all the walking I do around New York City as a fashion person, I’ve learned that what I put on my feet matters. A lot.

You’ve probably noticed that I wear sneakers constantly with my outfits too, and part of the reason is that I can slip my orthotics inside and walk for miles around the city. So discovering a cute at-home shoe with built-in support was a very welcome surprise.

My favorite is the Maya, a backless mule slipper designed for easy slip-on and slip-off comfort. It includes arch support and temperature control, making it a practical choice for wearing around the house while still looking polished enough to take beyond your front door. And then there’s the pattern. Mine is called Speckled Cow, and it is chic, unexpected and very fashion-forward. The creators of this fabulous slipper shoe Mave & Chaze is woman-owned by Dani Kagan and Victoria Marshman, and I love seeing comfort and style come together in a way that actually makes sense. @maveandchaze

Guy or BFF Friendly Flawless Skin: Men’s Makeup

Menaji men's makeup and grooming products
A natural-looking grooming find that gives guys a little coverage without looking like makeup.

Let’s talk about one for the guys. There is now an entire category of products designed to help men deal with the same skin and appearance concerns women have been talking about forever. Cover-up, anti-shine, makeup sticks, powders, scrubs and more, all designed with men in mind.

I was first introduced to Menaji about seven years ago and, at the time, wasn’t quite sure what I was supposed to do with it. So I did what any good friend would do: I asked my friend Mark to try it and tell me what he thought. Mark is a very fashionable guy, but he isn’t exactly a skincare or makeup obsessive. That made him the perfect test case.

Fast-forward to a recent birthday party, when Mark saw me and said to me, “Thanks for turning me on to that fabulous cover-up in a stick.”

Do I need to know anything else? Actually, yes. I tried the stick myself, and I have to agree. It provides great coverage while looking completely natural. You really can’t tell it’s on, which is exactly what you want from a product designed to create a flawless look. The brand is making a comeback on FashionDailyMag, and I say try it for yourself or gift it to your guy, your BFF or anyone who wants a little help looking polished without looking made up. The Gregory Undetectable Makeup Kit and Selfie Starter Kit are both worth checking out. And, by the way, it works beautifully on women too. @menaji_skincare

Stay Warm and Dry: A Stylish Windproof Umbrella

Speaking of cover-up and coverage, how about keeping the blue-sky feeling going all year long, even when the weather turns cloudy, rainy or snowy? If you’re anything like me, a little cheerful color can make a rainy day feel considerably better. And this umbrella is doing exactly that for me. The totes Stick Reverse-Close Umbrella with Under-Canopy Print has a blue-sky print that makes even the dreariest weather feel a little brighter. It’s foldable, durable and practical, but it also has that unexpected fashion detail I always appreciate.

And New Yorkers, you know why the durability matters. Engineered to withstand winds up to 75MPH, the Reverse-Close umbrella combines high-performance weather protection with standout style. Its advanced construction is designed to handle the gusts that can turn lesser umbrellas inside out, keeping you covered through a serious downpour. So yes, it may be almost fall.

But I’m going to keep my little blue sky going for as long as possible. @totes.us

The Pre-Fall Takeaway

Fall fashion is always exciting, but I’m not quite ready to rush past the last little pieces of summer. For me, pre-fall is about finding those things that make the transition easier: a great pair of pants, a versatile bag, a beautiful book, skincare that feels luxurious, a belt that actually works, a little blush, supportive shoes, a grooming find for the guys and an umbrella that can put a smile on your face when the weather doesn’t.

These are the kinds of pre-fall finds I love sharing because they’re not just about looking good. They’re about making everyday life a little more stylish, comfortable and fun. And really, isn’t that what fashion, beauty and lifestyle should be about?
