Jalen Brunson Brings Rookie Kids Energy to New York Fashion Week

A FUN way to close my NYFW spring 2027 season! Times Square was buzzing with kids, parents and plenty of New York energy for this show! Rookie Kids presented “Runway on Broadway: Where NYC Goes Back to School,” hosted by New York Knicks captain Jalen Brunson. The runway was packed with young personalities, from tiny toddlers to confident teens, and the whole evening had the feel of a back-to-school celebration with a decidedly NYC twist.

One of the sweetest moments came when Jalen Brunson and his wife Ali joined the kids on the runway, instantly becoming a crowd favorite. And then there was Royal Reign, Lil’ Kim’s daughter, who had her own NYFW moment. Lil’ Kim had flown in from Paris despite a four-hour flight delay to make sure she could see her daughter walk. She missed the red carpet but made it to the front row just in time – a great reminder that when your kid is walking the runway, you show up! Check out all the fabulous moments!

The kids brought the real star power, showing off looks that moved from everyday back-to-school style to sporty activewear, with plenty of attitude along the way. Levi’s, Nike, Abercrombie & Fitch, Lacoste and Jordan supplied the wardrobe, while the Knicks City Kids, Knicks City Dancers and Brooklyn United kept the energy going. A donation to Jalen Brunson’s Second Round Foundation added a meaningful note to the evening, but for me, the lasting impression was simpler: kids having fun, families cheering them on and a very New York way to finish the spring collections this season NYFW!
