RALPH LAUREN fw 12-13
Ralph’s handle on country classics transcends trends, as it has appeared intermittently over the years. The Fall 2012 collection doesn’t break any boundaries, but it certainly stays true to the brand’s prescribed form. Old-fashioned overtones made asides to Downton Abbey, the popular BBC tele program set in England during early-mid 1900s inspiring proud and preppy with manor house moments that have been modernized. The Lauren Klan came out in full force front row and looked on as well kept girls wore dolled up renditions of toggery for gents.
So much suiting, so much style, three piece combos, funky culottes, and long overcoats fit for a dapper outing complete with argyle socks, neck ties, and topped with newsboy caps or cloche hats. The drab color scheme was brightened with patterned sweater vests, glen plaids, pin stripes, lapel pins, and fresh faced make-up on models. The look transitioned into proper with velvet, which we loved in crimson and blueberry.
As top hats and canes stepped onto the scene for a black tie occasion, a few fushia frocks, and lots of lovely dark dresses, some with gold accents, danced their way into elegant evening soiree.
