Avenue B has a new spot to try out ya’’ll! POPULARES: A hip Mexican restaurant has opened on Avenue B in the East Village, New York. Good Food, good vibes! A very good new reason to go downtown to the eclectic and lively East Village. A boutique vibe with a fresh, modern perspective to traditional Mexican food. A fusion of flavor and casual cool chic, the menu and hip spot serves up some tasty popular Mexican dishes with a twist for picky folks like me.

The Populares menu is curated by Chef Niklas Lucich (Spice Market, Jean George – Bourchon, Thomas Keller), serves up Mexican dishes with a contemporary twist. A selection of tacos, innovative small plates, and flavorful ceviches as well as Gluten Free items are available.

One of my favorite dishes is the Sashimi grade Tuna Tostada with guacamole. We loved the Flautas (queso chihuahua, potatos, sour cream, cotija, watercress and salsa verde), as well as as the Mushroom Tostada (roasted shaitake, mushroom puree, pickled daikon radish and sesame). There is of course – a nice range of yummy tacos from cauliflower to fish to duck carnitas available too.

The restaurant is inviting, with a Taqueria style layout and tacos available till late night. The flavorful food and drinks are crafted with care and attention to detail, with a particularly authentic flavor, making eating Mexican food even an even more fun and yummy experience.

“We’re thrilled to introduce Populares to the East Village community,” says Mido Emad. “Our goal is to offer a dining experience that not only showcases the beloved flavors of Mexican cuisine but also transports our guests to a vibrant and inviting atmosphere that captures the essence of both Mexico and the East Village.”

The restaurant just opened March 2024 and currently open for dinner and brunch service.
