GLOBAL FASHION COLLECTIVE
Sustainability and traditional techniques lead the way from Global Fashion Collective fall 2020. Bringing designers from all around the globe, the collective is committed to diversity and in helping young designers show their best in art and design on the NYFW catwalk.
“We are bringing in more and more multicultural designers each season to emphasize our commitment to diversity and innovative design.” – Jamal Abdourahman
This season, the featured designers included WooLeeX, who delivered a beautiful blend of patterns, fusing Taiwanese cultural references into the patterns. LAVEC brought our attention to the planet, and uses ecological and organic fabrics, while WMTM by NiuNiu Chou commanded the runway with its traditional and striking pieces and fierce child models, including Desmond is amazing, who took a fierce walk in a pink wig on the catwalk…
Arlo Studio showed streetwear inspired pieces, while Designer Shun Oyama wowed us with textural jacquards and military details that took us back to another era. Gigi Wang gave a jolt of color and style mixing modern with traditional references, and Alicia Perillo used pattern play to enhance all sizes.
