FDM on the runway: this stylistic lady is on the hip parade for Spring 2011
a well-travelled PRETTY LITTLE LADY is always on the A- LIST, a new frontier of an un-BLINGed PARISIAN showed on the runway at MERCEDES BENZ FASHION WEEK NEW YORK for SPRING 2011…commentaries + selection: brigitte segura+ cutberto bonilla written by: sarah freiseis on FDM FashionDailyMag…
CATHERINE MALANDRINO, TONI FRANCESC, THAKOON, ROSA CHA, MARA HOFFMAN , TEMPERLEY, CHARLOTTE RONSON, Max azria, ADAM LIPPES , Costello Taglapietra, Erin fetherston, Tracy Reese.
so very FRANCHE, so CHARLOTTE GAINSBOURG + JANE BIRKIN… a mischievous sensibility, a confident allure, a knack for collecting admirers, a free spirited-lifestyle, or so it seems…
‘the CITY is a final DESTINATION’:
a HIP PARADE of textures and sheer layers, bold enough to make a pants statement, even in print at MARA HOFFMAN
CHIC is NOT a trend at TONI FRANCESC: a quietly seductive PROPER, a hint of flirted ruffle, just enough… no minimalism required here, beautifully understated, a modern functionality...
CATHERINE MALANDRINO can make romance from clay + terracotta… blessed by the GOOD weather, reminiscent of a walk near the BEAUBOURG museum in Paris, a splendid Sunday view, paying homage to works of ceramist Roger Capron [from a village in theSouth of France] using crackled + woven leathers, washed linens, a play of macramé + cotton.. a lifestyle of the south. ROSA CHA for those who can understand a creative like Alexandre HERCHCOVITCH can see the PERFECTO hints of flattery in the tropical beachwear, slit just right to give you the curves you want: in the water, ‘walking’ to the beach, the cocktail a la plage, whatever your FLAVOR du jour, ROSA CHA style. Still coming out of his shy shell, even adding flirty ruffles on the derrières of bikinis+ the little jungle green just adds to the sexy…
alice TEMPERLEYgave us a FLASH of MARIE ANTOINETTE’s sensibility of romance + some ARMOUR from KING ARTHUR… styled with wow hip chains + fantastic shoes from NICHOLAS KIRKWOOD for TEMPERLEY.. so love… Costello taglapietra draped a designed appeal to a contemporary cool, never forgetting ‘alternative’ hints, would like to see a little more flattery to ‘the figure’… TRACY REESE gave us a little MORE young instead of ruffles and prints, the knits getting stronger and the look getting a little less Mint Julep… we loved the preferated shorts in white and cognac…MAX AZRIA …and there is always the same question that comes up when we see MAX… just how many dresses can a man make? This time, a pretty demure with cut-outs draping a deliberate simplicity: fluid, asymmetrical hemlines, an ease of movement, call it architerctural , call it sorbet... MAX always has a pretty for the DRESS occasion…Erin fetherston , consistently maturing the tailored GREATness, and we’ve come a long way since the tea party, let’s hope this creative designer doesn’t get bored without all the bells and whistles… we’re loving the direction with the jackets; she’s here to stay..
