EDWING D’ANGELO flaunts Southern Goth for fall at NYFW

Southern Goth of the magical variety: sleek, dark, mysterious, powerful. The enchanting parade of Edwing D’angelo’s fall 2022 collection is evocative of  the beauty, magic and power of nocturnal, warm, scented, Southern winds. 

Hints remind us of an era tainted by institutionalized racism. D’angelo’s voluminous pieces remind us that life, spirit, and power cannot be taken away.

D’angelo’s pieces exude attitude in layers, from short dresses with super large sleeve ruffles to flowing gowns in black on black on black toile!

D’Angelo works from his atelier in Harlem, and comes from a line of seamstresses and tailors. This history, too, is evident in the fine tailoring of his work. The show was well attended, but not diversely attended. D’Angelo deserves more attention.
