BASIL SODA fall 2012 couture paris full show

Basil Soda fall couture 2012 fearlessly combined contrasts: spirit mixed with severity, modesty with sensuality, and the most dominant- lightness to dark. Heavy, deep hues of olive and onyx began the collection, but the fringe, (flowing even on the ankle boots!) and feathers gave the subdued colors life and movement. Etherial white looks intersected midway, celebrating the female figure with cutouts, translucent tulle, high slits, and embellishments that wrapped around the body- leaving some to the imagination. The infusion of color cleverly showcased the collection’s true fringe benefits, from a floor-grazing indian red dress covered completely in tassels, to a sparkling black gown overlaid with endless colored crystals. Ending with a striking wedding gown, Basil Soda demonstrated how the marriage of the unexpected and taking risks is something to celebrate.  by Mary Anderson.  Full show images in gallery.
