fdm LOVES: The bold and the beautiful, highlighting a mergence of cultural style and modern fashions, this time around with a commercialized statement.  The designers at the Africa Africa Spring 2012 Runway Collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week included Jewel by Lisa, Lanre Da-Silva Ajayi, and Asibelua to name a few.  To be expected ethnic prints and tie-dyes along for the ride, with a more understated and sophisticated feel to it, almost contemporary.   Needless to say we’d be disappointed if those touches weren’t just so…same goes for the fabulous representation of strong  shades of orange and yellow.  The models, especially Giorgie Badiel, made a statement of pride and power;  it’s safe to say Grace Bol, Sessilee Lopez, Jeneil Williams, Anais Mali, and Amina were full of passion.
