YOUNG fashion + art: BERENIK
Another look at an emerging favorite combining art + fashion… BERENIK flaunts the art of fashion on multi-levels. Inspired by Lego | Duplo masks from artist Marcin Gajewski, young Swiss designer Veronika Brusa gave us a show to remember during the New York shows. Filled with dance, art, and fantastically detailed contemporary fashion, community, rituals and togetherness were featured.
Abstract masks printed on fabrics and embroidered on garments and bags, outrageous faces resembling a sci-fi moment, and tons of great pieces were featured. Taking a close look behind the scenes and outside the SoHo Flagship on Broome street, Paul Terrie captures moments in time representing the irony of beauty and individuality.
Brusa’s collection of hip, comfortable, functional and athletic silhouettes with a sporty edge. The hair, my favorite accessory, was created by Prive by Laurent D. to enhance the aesthetic of the UNISEX collection.
A fusion of 103 movement and performance artists and models, all wearing masks wearing the BERENIK spring 2018 Collection, walked in the streets of Soho then into the store where the Presentation and Performance choreographed Pascal Rekoert seamlessly throughout room for the entire 2 hour presentation. Whoa. Here’s what’s amazing to view.
The fantastical collection retails from $75-950.

About: BERENIK represents Swiss quality through design as conceived by Veronika Brusa, a Swiss interdisciplinary artist based in NYC. The contemporary sportswear line was created as a means to explore the relationship between visual arts and apparel and to serve as a means to connect with people. Brusa seeks visual contrast and complimentary pairings through mixture of print, texture, and colors applied to sculptural silhouettes. By representing a forward & modern thinking view of luxury focused on product quality while providing true value for the customer, the brand’s elegant sportswear transcends seasonal trends and is intended for a discerning customer of all ages. In September 2013, the first BERENIK Boutique was opened in the heart of Zürich, Switzerland, which is also the headquarters of the company and warehouse. Beginning in 2014 the brand moved their Design Studio from Paris to New York and in July of 2017, the BERENIK Boutique and Talenthouse was opened in Soho, NYC as their U.S. Flagship. They develop two comprehensive prêt-à-porter collections per year. In doing so the brand attaches great value to the consistent realization of ideas, wearability, sophisticated cuts with a comfortable fit and high quality in workmanship and the choice of materials.
