Dutch design duo SCHUELLER DE WAAL took on a different path during Paris Fashion Week. During the last days of Paris fashion week, designers Philipp Schueller and Rens de Waal presented their vision on fashion in an autonomous presentation at Palais de Tokyo. Rather than offering a new collection, the designers want to make a statement about the fast pace of fashion and their incapabilities of keeping up in a fashion film installation, ‘The Gateway To Fashion’, a suggestive form of ‘FASHION THERAPY’.

“Driven by the idea of giving former designs a new context and using that as research for the development of new design ideas With the thought of slowing down their audience and creating time to reflect in a period of constant rush,.”

The ‘protagonist’ of the film, a hypnosis therapist with mesmerising eyeballs, took the viewers through trance world of eclectic future fashion suggestions with every step. fictitious characters representing the viewers repressed inner fashion spirit on an intuitive journey towards unleashed creativity.  Here’s a revamp of the spring 2019 collection presented in the film.

SCHUELLER DE WAAL = fashion design duo Philipp Schueller x Rens de Waal. The label creates fashion statements and capsule collections in which they express their belief in Fashion as Therapy. SDW refers to both the initials of the designers and the studio’s vision Seeking Design Wellbeing.

With their work and collaborations the designers aspire to develop different perspectives on fashion which allow for a refreshed optimism in creation and that catalyse change.
