VIVIENNE WESTWOOD MAN fall 2013 MILAN
Designer wild woman Vivienne Westwood does menswear with a zesty edge and joie de vivre that comes naturally. During Milan’s menswear fashion week for the Autumn/Winter 2013 collections, Westwood showcased her MAN label with a poignant view. Using fashion as a platform for stressing a climate revolution, Westwood shares her message:
‘Climate Revolution is the only means towards a sound economy. When the general public massively switches on to this fact we will win.’
From interestingly subtle suits to almost Zany outerwear, the collection is action packed with creativity for the stylishly astute. The pieces in a darker palette of wine and/or navy were a little poetic and a nice blend of collegiate and casual sophistication. The workplace greys were sharp, and the formal white tuxes twisted for kitsch. Plaids, stripes, and houndstooth checks got a playful punch in this line up, while splashes of bold colors orange and yellow enhanced pizazz. Standout knits, funky bags, and headwear with appropriate volume yielded dimension and added value to the layers of fashion flavor.
Just her style to give us an eyeful, and something to talk about –- in more ways than one. Fdm selects from Vivienne Westwood AW 2013 Menswear Collection [Milan] by Brigitte Segura, written by Sarah A. Freiseis
