VIKTOR + ROLF spring 2015 PFW
Sportswear is not what you normally expect to see coming down a runway but VIKTOR & ROLF created an eye-catching collection of leggings, track pants and bike shorts. In an interesting contrast were the voluminous, candy paint tops and dresses that would probably not be a gym junkie’s first choice in athletic wear.
With lots of frills and gathered extra fabric, the twisted, inflated tops were not subtle. Their asymmetric construction and fun floral print provided a charge of energy to the style that were consistent with the sportswear theme, with a little mesh in some of the tops. Bursts of voluminous randomness added to their sleek counterparts of black bike shorts and flowing track pants.
Though the collection may have received many reviews of confusion, but seeing as Viktor & Rolf did not gain inspiration from sportswear as early as other designers previously have, maybe this abstract collection was their way of announcing their spontaneous introduction into the world of chic athletic wear?
