Louis Verdad’s blue hues for the spring 2017 season are all about tailoring. A denim power suit? Yes, please. For Verdad’s NYFW debut, Louis brought a chic unison of collars, jackets, dresses and embellishment, mostly all in denim! With exceptional detail to the craftsmanship and fit, the pieces are designed to fit and flatter the figure.
Putting a spin on denim by using the reverse side for special details, Verdad put a daring spin on corporate classics + dresses.
Not only were denims prominent in the collection, the denim that has been treated locally in Los Angeles was used as the base, the trim, and as colorblocks. From blazers to jackets to pants, this is a seriously denim collection.
And this denim is not casual. Looking like a suit of armor to take on the work place, all of the designs for this collection could easily empower women to take on the world, one chic outfit at a time. Gold + silver were used to accent, with tassels and fringe here and there.
Our editor Brigitte took a tour of the details with the designer where she was shown all the detailing as Louis explained the way in which he is using denim as his base, from career wear to evening wear. Detailed elements of structure, drama and movement enhanced the aesthetic of the collection. The workmanship and the experienced knowledge of tailoring were evident up close in Verdad’s work, as well as his intention to make every woman look fabulous and flawless.
Details and more details, including asymmetric tops and detailed beadwork, with the placement of the pleating and the manner in which the garments fell at the shoulders… it was clear that no matter the person, the piece would be sure to fit correctly. Louis Verdad’s creativity and skillset show both his impeccable eye for detail and talent. He is well in tune with how to accentuate the female silhouette and with over 15 years of experience, he has definitely earned points with this first NYFW presentation.
