TIMO WEILAND womenswear fall 2015
Grunge aesthetic with kick-ass attitude for both his women’s and menswear collections, TIMO WEILAND fall 2015 NYFW steered clear of ‘90s cliché. Forget Sonic Youth style tattered and unwashed—the clothing was refined yet chill—perfect for millennial kids who go from IT jobs straight to late night hipster bars. Speaking of which, Ke$ha was in front row attendance. The collection seemed to be a mix of grunge, mod, and relaxed sophistication.
The label’s menswear has succeeded in using a myriad of fabrics and intricate styling, refining the collection yet allowing a relaxed attitude. The classic bomber jackets, offered in variance of fabrics including leather and plaid, offered ease in which a city native can show off his defiant nonchalance in knowing each piece is a staple showing his comprehension of fashion. Other sophisticated staples included sweatshirts with modern fabrication. Relaxed trousers gave the collection a wearable feel, while brimmed hats gave it edgy flair.
The Timo trio offered hand-knit long beanies, providing a dramatic alternative to typical tight knit skullcaps. The silhouette was loose fitting –casual and slouchy. Oversized draping with dresses that seemed to be tied on the run—giving it a relaxed overall look. Some tops were shown with fringe, showing a playful attitude with movement down the runway. Sweaters tied around the waist, gave way to additional layers.
Stripes, cozy and chunky layers, rounded “updated” sunnies. The makeup gave way to dark crimson lips, barely shimmery brown smoky eyes, and light satin beige natural nails by Zoya lead Cinnamon Bowser who used the polish to accentuate each models unique skin tone using natural shades as an extension of the hands. The color palette included grey, black, white, blue, and brown making each piece a staple that can be worn for next season and for years to come. This collection was carefree, cool and confident.
