SOTHEBY’S CONTEMPORARY curated by Issa
CONTEMPORARY CURATED: winter edition at Sotheby’s London galleries is curated by stylish creative Caroline Issa (Tank Magazine). In an exercise in fantasy collecting, Issa has hand-picked a selection of favorites including NAN GOLDIN, ANDY WARHOL, EVELYNE AXELL, SIGMAR POLKE, and BARBARA KRUGER amongst many more, available in London on November 21.
Issa’s selection of artworks that are historically significant and unique, and inspiring…
Issa, who has collaborated with artists including Laure Prouvost, Thomas Demand, Hito Steyerl and Torbjørn Rødland. Issa insists (and I couldn’t agree more ) that the two disciplines are inextricably linked:
‘fashion exists in art and art in fashion’. –
because ‘the artists themselves inspire me…’
“Art has been present in most of my life. I have been lucky enough to work with a platform like Tank Magazine that has had Art as one of its key subjects consistently throughout its almost 20 year history. Art, just as much as fashion, often inspires an entire issue of the magazine, a photoshoot we conceive, and can be a springboard for a brand campaign or a look. It can also confuse, madden and induce euphoria. But most of all, it makes me think, question and reach further”. – Caroline Issa.
