SMILES are trending this season: Injectors with a feminine touch!
SMILES are trending this season: And there are many different things that make a smile look great. Getting a little help with injectables is even more popular around this holiday season. The key to great results is working with professional nurses and doctors whose aesthetic sense aligns with yours. The combination of fillers like Restylane and neuromodulators like Botox, can render a beautiful yet gentle transformation with the right injector. Finding an injector with a feminine touch is a great match for me!

I smile a lot and I smile big! I wanted to enhance my smile and make my “gummy smile” a little less prominent. My gummy smile isn’t one of my favorite qualities and when I’m laughing and smiling in pics, so I wanted to check what non-invasive options were available to help my smile look better and help me look my best.
What makes the difference in how we look is set by our goals, and these goals are then interpreted and manifest by the injector. It’s extremely important to find professional, licensed doctors and nurses. I recently met with Mercedes Baez, RN, MSN, IMG at BeautyWorks NYC, the non-invasive part of Dr. Barry Weintraub ’s practice to discuss new possibilities with injectables!
I wanted less gum show and fuller lips – but I did not want to look disproportionate or fake! Luckily, Mercedes aligned perfectly with my personal style, and we agreed to work with Restylane fillers to get a little more feminine pout and freshen up the surrounding areas with a filler and light Bo combo. I was thrilled to find a gentle solution for my issue with injectables. A dose of youthful happiness!
Filler results are not just about overfilled cheeks or super big lips! My results? Me – and my smiley and feminine personality – fresher and better. Mercedes Baez was able to transform my “gummy” smile and to do so with grace. Her style is feminine, artistic and curated to meet her client’s unique needs. It was wonderful that she considered my best assets to highlight too, with a little creative swoosh, not fitting me into the mold of what is trending. So individual, and so couture!
“She’s beautiful not because she looks like a supermodel, but because she looks like herself. “
We used some Botox to smooth the wrinkles from my facial expressions — in my case, frowning, squinting and other expressions I tend to make daily. The fillers we used were a Restylane variation which helped lift the area surrounding my lips ever so gently, as well as to give my lips a feminine shape. No overfilled lips, and especially important – she did not freeze my smile! No funny business with not being able to drink from a glass, either.
I asked MERCEDES about her style of injection before getting started. It’s a great idea to ask questions and see examples when finding your person.
Q- What is your style as injector. What is your unique technique?
MB- I grew up in the supermodel era! But my idea of beautiful is not because my patient looks similar to a supermodel. We all have different proportions and there is beauty in everyone. I like emphasizing everyone’s uniqueness in a natural, attractive way.
I start by asking my patients what they want to achieve, their expectations and desired look. Then we chat and discuss the possibilities. We (injectors) know to inject and enhance; I also like to emphasize the patient’s great features with a feminine touch, with beautiful and natural results as the goal.
Q- What defines beauty today?
What is being beautiful? Being beautiful means that you feel confident and powerful. It can be feminine, sexy, sassy, androgynous. It can be anything. You are open to feeling so many things when you are comfortable with yourself, when you have more confidence, when you’re not worried or self-conscious. Beauty is not defined by a certain look; being beautiful is something beyond your appearance. It involves the character, the soul, the spirit. I like to use different combinations of techniques to enhance the patient’s features. This is done safely so we don’t put anyone at risk.
Q- What made you choose Aesthetics – How did you get started?
I have a background in fashion. I managed my own fashion company in my native Argentina. I love art and still create art and enjoy drawing, too. I discovered another passion – aesthetics – while working in fashion. So, I sold my company and went to medical school to study aesthetics, and after many years of training, I became a doctor in Argentina. In the US, I am licensed as a nurse, and I love the combination of aesthetics and medicine in my vocation!
My talent is to help my patients achieve a look, sometimes by altering what they don’t like, and augmenting what they do like. I can help them transform themselves ever so gently and find the beautiful details of their face. It doesn’t have to be about proportions or what is trending now. It’s about making them look their best – their most natural best.
“I like what I do because I love bringing happiness and confidence to my patients. I can improve their skin quality, tightening and refreshing it. I can emphasize their best features as well as downplaying or correcting their less-than-optimal features. I would rather treat my patients in stages because it’s always easier to add rather than subtract. This is why they never look overfilled or distorted. I enjoy the challenge as an injector to create changes that are extremely natural.“ – Mercedes Baez
In medical school, I was always interested in the underlying techniques. I asked many questions like, “Why is this filler used on the cheekbones instead of the jawline?” or
What is the impact of injecting on a deeper plane vs. a more superficial plane?” These questions led me to understand the scientific reasoning, but also to develop my own techniques so that I can achieve the goals of my patients to make them look their absolute best.
Finding an injector with a feminine touch like Mercedes Baez was a great match for me! I’ve added a few pics of favorite recent smiles here in this post, and it’s been a lovely gentle transformation of me, as I’m smiling a little better with more confidence. You’ll be seeing more of my smiles soon in social media too!
