SKINCARE favorites during WINTER season guide
It’s cold out and it’s been a freezing weather change recently in New York. While I bundle up and layer up even more layers, and put a hat or a hood on and a scarf and gloves. I can’t help but wonder how my face and hands are doing. Braving the walks in the city is hard enough, but dealing with dry skin after the walk – I’d rather not. Here are some of my favorite tried and true winter helpers for face, hands, and body.

Although these items are useful year round for dry skin, they are especially useful in the fall winter months. Especially after days outdoors where my face feels frozen from just being exposed. Some of the products are European and I used many times, and a few some are new to me. Many of these beauty products are easy to find at my Brigitte Segura storefront* online at Amazon too.

Face wash: Pevonia Ligne Sevactive. This foaming face wash starts as an oil and easily turns into a foamy and creamy wash. Natural and botanical, this wash feels wonderful and soothing and gives you a clean feeling. Plus, there is a luxurious feel to this product when you use it on your skin, and it’s clean beauty using botanical ingredients too.

Face moisture: Nurture and Nourish the Goddess ! Natural skincare from Figgi Beauty feels wonderful on and smells like nothing is on. The Antioxidant Enriched Day Cream gives a gentle yet efficient moisture and daytime protection. The Figgi Beauty Evening Rescue Cream is a gem, it not only moisturizes without a greasy film, and feels like nothing added to your face- all natural. When I say scentless – it’s really a lovely NO SCENT! No weird all natural scent and definitely no fragrance.

Overnight sensation: I reach for the Super Multi-Corrective cream from Kiehl’s on those nights where I feel like I need a little more care and moisture. The scent also is spa-like and herbal, which makes me feel calm and like I’ve taken care of business. Very moisturizing for dry skin year-round, and extremely useful in the winter months for me. @Kiehls.

Doctor approved skincare: This medical grade skincare duo works wonders for me, especially when I’m in a rush and want to look great daytime. The first is the Beauty Works Hyaluronic Rejuvenating Moisturizer with concentrated Hyaluronic acid, which “retains up to one-thousand times its weight in water. ” It was originally recommended to me by Sanela at Beauty Works after a treatment. It felt great, and I love the lightweight formula that instantly makes my skin smoother and combats dry skin giving me a more a dewy hydrated look all day.
Doctor approved Tinted protection: Also formulated by Beautyworks and Dr. Barry Weintraub, my second favorite product from this range is a Physician’s Grade Sun Protection, tinted moisturizer that goes on smoot. Just the right opaqueness for making my natural skin look better, au naturelle. The formula contains SPF 50+ sunscreen protecting against UVA and UVB rays. Nurturing the skin with Vitamin E and natural Squalane, it’s ok for all skin types. Can be used on its own or as a primer for foundation. Recommended to me by Sanela, and I strongly recommend, especially after a treatment, a facial or laser where you can’t really put much on! A very important detail for post-procedure skin or sensitive skin too. Both Beautyworks products are formulated by Doctor Dr. Barry Weintraub and are available online and at the 5th Avenue location in New York City. @beautyworksnyc.

Overnight toning for body : Aah we all know the dull and dry winter skin. Plus, lack of activity can make a not so positive difference in our legs and derriere. Along comes this fabulous toning helper called GET DREAMY by Maelys, a nicely scented toner for the body. Very nice texture and a lavender like fragrance, this overnight body whip helps smooth and tighten while you sleep. Ingredients include Milk Thistle to help improve the appearance of cellulite, and hydrating ingredients making it the perfect addition to your nighttime body care routine. Using it after a shower or rinse in the evening makes it even better for me. To target the tummy area, try B-FLAT Belly Firming Cream for a little more tightness in the middle zone.

Lip Balm: My tip – A lip balm that works well doesn’t need to be reapplied very often. Though some folks like to use greasy ointments, I do not. I discovered the importance of great lip balms many years ago when I lived in Paris, and I keep a handful in my coat pockets and bag – just in case. My go to favorite this season is Uriage Xemose moisturizing lip balm in a stick.

Super rich body moisturizer: This moisturizer is the ultimate for my winter skincare regimen. Not only does it moisturize, but it takes away the dry skin itch without any burning sensation. And if you have super dry skin or ever had a sunburn, you know how it feels when you put a moisturizer on that dry skin and the skin burn. This one does not. It soothes, smoothes and feels instantly better. Sometimes I wonder how I have been dealing with my winter dry skin without it. The La-Roche Posay heals skin and is available everywhere now. that also heals skin – La Roche Posay Lipikar Triple Repair Moisturizing Cream. Dermo recommended and accepted by the National Eczema Association.

Healing ointment: For some of us with dry skin year-round like me, we have multiple reasons to keep a jar and a travel tube of this product handy. I’ve been using Aquaphor healing oitnment for dry heels, elbows, and any major patches of dry skin or irritation on my body. When my skin is super dry, I use Aquaphor as a moisturizer on my legs, and put it on from the knee down to ankles at night. Great to use on dry hands and fingers too. I have a big jar and a travel tube handy at home. Available everywhere.

Spot treatment for irritated skin: For dry spots, red spots, and irritated skin, my recent go-to has been Cicalfate by Avene, a restoring and protective cream. I use it year round, and in the winter especially around the neck where the scarves and zippers from a hood may irritate. I also use it on just about any small area on my body that feels irritated or dry. Very moisturizing and soothing, this little tube works as a spot treatment on alot of my skin reactions. Avene Cialfate.
