Ruffian Spring 2014
NYFW might have just ended, but now it’s time to take in all the delicious collections that were shown during the exciting week. Designer duo Brian Wolk and Claude Marais had fresh youthfulness on their minds for their Ruffian Spring 2014 collection. We were instantly transfixed by the adorably fun floral jacquards and young styling, sophisticated for multiple age groups.
The designers were inspired by the writings of French novelist Francoise Sagan, as the styles are gorgeously Parisian-infused. Think strolling through The City of Love, café in hand, on a cool spring morning. A short black dress with a wide white collar is too cute for words. The front button details are an added touch that give it the right amount of uniqueness. These clever designers even mixed classic cotton with vulcanized canvas, to create a fantastic shiny material that’s seen on a short coat and skirt. No boring leather, this material actually glistens. They even mixed cotton with digitally printed silk. Talk about taking it to the next high-fashion level. It’s a collection that’s both parts wearable and brilliant.
Taking it down, props have to be given to the perfect polka dotted flats. Our feet thank you in advance for this comfortable alternative. There’s no need for any elaborate footwear. The clothes tell the story just fine, and it’s a story worth checking out. Have no fear, you’re never too old for a little fun in your wardrobe! fdmLOVES RUFFIAN SPRING 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
