ROCHAMBEAU fall 2015 NYFW
Pushing the boundaries… In their signature esthetic, ROCHAMBEAU gives us a fusion of gritty street sportswear with an experimental edge for fall 2015. Sharp cuts, heavy layering, and frozen in time was the implication of the collection shown at Milk | MADEFW. Eye candy David Beckham stopped by to shake hands with designers Joshua Cooper + Laurence Chandler and a live performance at the end of show kept us grooving just before going back out into the freeze of the night.
Three gigantic ice-like sculptures were filled with paraphernalia one would find iconic to the streets of NYC. Used metrocards, old pizza, cigarette butts, I love NYC plastic bags, and even a 90s telephone booth were included in the mix. The sculptures were placed in a triangular arrangement within a graffiti street scene surrounding the standing presentation.
Oversized flashlights and boots completed a cyberpunk futuristic military look. Jackets with industrial belt straps and clasp buckles combined with relaxed pants were perfect street wear. Loose knit turtleneck infinity scarves finished the look.
The pattern of this season was black + white scribble—reminiscent of the heavy snow mixed with NYC grime of the past two winters, made into cut into a loose pant + a loose shirt. The standout piece was a dark grey, black scribble jumpsuit with with ribbed cuffs on the wrists and ankles and industrial belt straps and clasp buckles across the chest. Here’s a little peek of what we saw… more to come! ROCHAMBEAU fall 2015 NYFW selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Roya Butler.
