BODY in movement: NIKE x UNDERCOVER collab
ATHLETIC gear has a new edge: NIKE x UNDERCOVER collab was designed for the athletic minded guys to pick up [and be seen]. Exciting news for the fashionable set: NIKE, known for their consistent quality and performance gear collaborated with fashion-forward UNDERCOVER in creating a collection of coveted pieces to wear in and out of the gym. Featured in Mr. Porter this month, Performance Triathlete | coach Brandon Del Campo put the textiles to the test during a 2 hour run across the gorgeous scenic Estes Park in Colorado.
A passionate runner himself, [Japanese] Undercover founder Jun Takahashi’s personal love for the sport inspired him to create a collection with high-tech creations with global athletes in mind. The difference is in the ‘fashioned’ details- detachable sleeves, laser-cut ventilation, underarm slits, thumbholes, the ‘sweat’ fabric running along the arm’s cuff, and the coin and key-ready pockets with the UNDERCOVER edge. Soothing hues and fashionable color combos [no loud shouting colors, thank you] to stand out from the pack, while the NIKE performance attire will help in reaching top-notch speeds with lightweight hi-tech fabrications that keep you fast-moving without fabric restraints.
Takahashi shares with Mr. Porter: The collection “works with-not against-a body in movement.” This also embodies the mission of the Gyakusou International Running Association (GIRA), which began as a performance running kit alliance. The GIRA running team and Takahashi rock the new collection in a featured short film on the Mr. Porter website. Hit the ground running with this fresh gear designed for the GLOBAL set to keep moving: whether it’s on a busy Tokyo city street or a scenic mountain route… Written by Mary Anderson.
