new FACES: HOUGHTON lights for fall 2012
new FACES at NYFW: making a statement with a palette of ivories, blushes, and winter whites, Houghton’s debut collection for fall 2012 shown during NYFW got our attention. Designed with passion and personality by Katharine Polk, Houghton’s modern effortless silhouettes were infused with romantic notes with just a little ‘EDGE’. long tailored coats and sparkled LIGHTs for winter gave us a welcome BRIGHTer view of fall, especially with the sun gleaming through the many windows at AVERY FISHER hall on what seemed- the sunniest winter day – a perfect venue for this presentation. we caught up with designer KATHARINE POLK who shared with FashionDailyMag
‘the palette of cream, white and rose was something that evolved as I started designing. I saw a swatch that I loved and started designing the collection. I like to keep things really cohesive and as the collection developed I played with textures and novelty fabrics that expanded on my story. I saw a simple and clean collection that has statement pieces and timeless silhouettes.’
