MONIKA CHIANG fall 2013 NYFW
A recurring dream was the inspiration behind Monika Chiang‘s fw13 presentation on Feb. 8th, 2013 during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. “I’m running as fast as I can until I take off into flight.” Prompted by her recent visit to MOMA, Chiang’s fascination with birds and their effortless soaring beauty kindled the creative spark that provoked her collection, revealing a model set before a wall inscribed with grey, soaring birds.
The presentation From the immaculately teased faux-Mohawk hairstyles, to the winged-out exaggerated lashes and smoky drawn-out eyeshadow, these looks perfectly coordinated the sophisticated edge. Her collection included posh pieces on neutral and eye-popping nuances, adorned with feather impressions, multi-textile clutches and shoulder bags, and handfuls of chokers.
A variety of hip-hugging oxblood, grey, and black legging leather pants, as well as a pinched slouchy chocolate trousers we loved. “Winged” sheathed textiles were delicately draped over a black jumpsuit, and exquisite feathered appliqués were plotted on simple black dresses, to create an effortlessly flawless look. The capsule included everything from etched out turtleneck coats and tops, to white luxurious jumpsuits. This beautiful vignette captured the essence of freedom that birds possess though a series of eloquently elegant looks. fdm selects from MONIKA CHIANG fall 2013 NYFW by Brigitte Segura, written by Julia Paulescu.
