MENSWEAR: NYMD emerging designers
Our NYFW:M officially began with a day of emerging designers at CFDA’s New York Mens Day (NYMD) fall 2017. Catching our attention with pop art, graphics, plaids, pastels, and a fabulous mustard yellow, young talent was flaunting fantastic options for menswear. Taking a closer look at the cool attitude at the new venue at Dune Studios, we checked out young designers Maiden Noir, David Naman, WoodHouse, Private Policy, By Robert James, and R. Swiader
Here is a little glimpse of a few faves for the guys from New York Mens Day at NYFW:M Day 1:
Julian Woodhouse gave us a nod to his life in Korea this season, with a fantastic fusion of New York streetstyle meets Eastern attitude. Army green velvet (bomber) jackets, salmon pink sweaters, and fabulous outerwear were the highlights. Enhanced with chockers, one the newest men’s add ons, and pops of color- (especially the yellow) giving a new vision of fab to menswear this season.
Refined looks were on the spotlight at David Naman’s FW17 collection. Polished looks with pared down sophisticated layering: Turtlenecks, a double-breasted slim jacket, and a velvety cord jacket were standouts in the collection. Lifestyle for the young man, with models Ryan Keating and Michael Lockley sporting the fresh classics.
The cool mustard + olive party was through the roof at Private Policy. Each model sporting a tattoo reading referencing “issues” gave an activist edge to the already forward brand. Faves included unravelling (bomber) jackets, utilitarian looks, and an updated suit donning a flag pattern giving a look of unity for FW17. HOT!
There was definitely something being said at By Robert James FW17 presentation. Inspired by the recent political marches, models sported tailored suits in shades of army green, black and chestnut- each exhibiting a sign with different maxims from the demonstrations. Beanies and face masks were the perfect accessories to complete the message.
A vintage inspired theme at Maiden Noir supported the collection’s tone of a blast to the past. 60’s vibes + colors mix with modern lifestyle loungewear. Everyday attittude for the young man.
R. Swiader definitely brought the cool boy suave for fall winter, featuring our bearded fave in Phil Sullivan in a grunge-Bklyn layered plaid look. Models were sporting over sized sweaters mixed with belted chinos, polished with jet-black lace ups and the simple silver chains. Grunge away…
