Libertine FW13
Libertine by designer Johnson Hartig unveiled a Fall 2013 collection at Cafe Rouge in Midtown Manhattan for NYFW. The notoriously eco-friendly label has been around a little over ten years now with much growing success. Most notably, this season show attendees included a Mr. Hamish Bowles sitting front row.
Inspired by travels to India, the designer achieved beautification through ornamentation. The women were wearing brights, often times printed with an ethnic driven motif, and electrically adorned from head to toe. Ultimately the global-chic created for the ladies was fascinatingly energetic, but maintained with easy style. The fellas were in contrast with low key black, grey, and white combinations. They rocked tie-dye pants, patterned knits, and statement making blazers with relaxed flair. For all the young and hip at heart, there was a bit of a punkiness to the look, skulls and all.
The decorative enhancements didn’t stop with the clothing, even the nails were considered in the total package. Katie Hughes, a butter LONDON Global Colour Ambassador, created a nail polish (bespoke) just for the Libertine Show. The golden color, called Marbs (available starting Summer 2013), was used in conjunction crystals to capture the vibe. Libertine FW13 Written by Sarah A. Freiseis.
