Talk about talent! Showing for the first time on the NYFW circuit the Laurence + Chico label wowed us with creative genius. We hardly see this kind of artistic meet couture approach in the states, and so to see the collection in an intimate setting was really a treat.
Under the sea inspiration translated into illustrations that became spectacular prints in accompaniment to the finely developed apparel. Many of the spunky styles were sculpted for clever reiteration and other looks were ruffled for flair, yet some silhouettes with billowy elements fell to the softer side.
We got a chance to meet the design duo behind the striking story, married couple Laurence Li and Chico Wang. As newcomers, their aptitude is spot on, and we’re stoked to see it develop in time. Laurence and Chico was established in January 2015 by Laurence Li and Chico Wang, who both attended Parsons New School. While attending Parsons, Laurence majored in Fashion Marketing and interned at Barneys Buying Department. while Chico majored in Fashion Design and worked in Visual Design, working with some top luxury brands (including McQueen, Givenchy and Miu Miu) and renowned luxury boutique, Lane Crawford.
