Katharine Polk Shines at Houghton Pre-Spring 2014
HOUGHTON has had quite the past couple of years. Up-and-coming designer Katharine Polk, has been considered a new designer to watch by WWD and heralded as a breath of fresh air in the fashion industry. She is the head designer of the fresh new label that mixes both lustrous glamour and hard edge. It’s a combination that is distinctively Houghton, and her 2014 Pre-Spring collection is in a class of its own.
Polk held her first pre-spring presentation on top of a rooftop garden, Gallow Green at The McKittrick Hotel. Known for her over-the-top, expressive pieces, Polk opted to tone the glam down a few notches for this line. Choosing minimal colors of white, mint, blush and black, the looks are airy and carefree. It transformed into a line that’s ready to wear now, and we hope they will be flying off the racks in a hot minute.
The crop and bra tops are paired with boho skirts and slouchy pants. A mint green dress is adorned with showy sheer blouson sleeves, a look used on several other charming dresses. All the styles possess a delicate and extremely feminine air. Simple, pure, gorgeous. fdmLOVES Katharine Polk | HOUGHTON pre-spring 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
