Karl Lagerfeld: Fire Etchings | Galerie Gmurzynska Switzerland
Karl Lagerfeld, the jack of all trades, has now extended his mastery into a red hot medium- fire! Karl Lagerfeld: Fire Etchings, one of Karl’s latest projects, features a series of “contemporary portraitures” of modern famous faces such one of his favorite models Freja Beha Erichsen, along with Aymeline Valade, and fresh rapper phenom Theophilus London. Uniting Lagerfeld’s photographic prowess with the wild medium created an eye-catching result. Each mega-portrait was formed by etching the image onto the slick surface with the help of fire, then creating a glowing look through lights shining behind the backlit glass.
Boldly featuring Lagerfeld’s daring creations for over twenty years, Galerie Gmurzynska museum is happy to display a new road of creativity for both “the art and the artist.” Lagerfeld has conquered the artistic world by showcasing his stellar work at a wide variety of revered museum’s such as: The Chateau de Versailles; the Musee d’Art Moderne, Paris; The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; The Israel Museum, Jerusalem. On Exhibit at Galerie Gmurzynska St. Moritz, Switerland, from February 19 through March 23, 2013. Written by Mary Anderson.
