CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER haute couture fall 2013

Circus chic is what we’d like to call Jean Paul Gaultier‘s Haute Couture Fall 2013 collection. With hair literally rising to new heights and silhouettes so dramatic they border on cartoonish, this is what couture is all about. The ‘f’ in fierce is embodied in red hot lion, tiger and cougar print standouts that look like they’ll meow when touched. Nothing cutesy here, it’s all about strong female empowerment with still a hint of Gaultier sex appeal.

The cuts are wild. Thin waistlines and oversized shoulders feel 80s red carpet but look modern day fancy. Coats feature the ferocious animal print and several ensembles are accented in fur. A Cruella de Ville inspired ‘fur’ coat (it’s really ocelot print feathers) is an absolute knockout. Dresses are either full or knee-length with long sleeves that reverberate sleekness. Showgirl-esque glam is strongly shown in an animal print accented gown, properly called “Black Panther.” A mauve printed jacket is stunning with deep green velvet trousers and funky square pockets. It’s such a sick cut that flatters and attracts, and Lindsey Wixson was feeling it and working it.

The final look is titled “Bride.” White rose pedals are cascading around the model like the swirly details on the dress. A cinched waist is ultra feminine and the wide shoulders create an interesting illusion. A tipped hat completes this Asian-inspired masterpiece. The remaining bright candy colors are youthful and enthralling…like delicious confectionary sweets. You might get a sugar rush. fdmLOVES JEAN PAUL GAULTIER selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
