JAY GODFREY ss16
Striking the perfect aesthetic chord between minimal design and sensuality, the Jay Godfrey ss16 collection NYFW showcased fresh separates perfect for the modern woman.
Having been influenced by his latest project, designing a hotel in Seoul Korea, Godfrey’s collection drew inspiration from architecture and interior design. The completely white collection showcased silks, linens and flexible tweeds in varying shades of cream, porcelain and alabaster. All of which stood out beautifully against the rich skintones of diverse models, highlighting the sensuality of Godfrey’s designs.
Fabric gathered and draped on all the right areas of the models. The silhouettes accentuated the woman’s beauty and figure and came in ladylike pieces like a strapless, flared jumpsuit, flowing culottes, and a trumpet flared dress. A bevy of strategically planned cut outs added a clean, architectural element to the largely feminine influence.
Strong, accessories— clear round sunglasses, block-heeled sandals, thick silver cuffs, and blue geometric nail art, and of course the venue’s light up cube— lent the presentation a clean and cool vibe. Godfrey’s harmonization of classic elegance and forward thinking pragmatism provides the perfect solution to the modern woman’s needs.
