Houghton Spring 2014
On a beautiful sunny September day, Houghton‘s Spring 2014 collection was shown on the terrace of The Standard hotel. As the rays sprinkled across the runway, gorgeous ethereal looks were presented in soft, feminine colors and cuts. Inspired by the light clothes worn in the Miami heat, designer Katharine Polk offered a romantic mixture of ready to wear pieces. Feel that ocean breeze in your hair with this lovely set. New essentials for anyone’s upcoming season wardrobe.
The flow was felt everywhere, especially in billowy maxi dresses that lightly grazed the macadam runway. The audience members’ shadows added a super cool effect as these gorgeous pieces practically floated down the runway. A silk chiffon gown, a personal favorite, looked super fresh with a long scarf tied at the shoulder. Several in gingham print were too cute in their lilac and light green hues. Several long tops were cut and ‘frayed’ beautifully to act as perfect dangling details. Paired with matching floral cropped pants, the looks were complete. Many things were lightly cinched at the waist, adding flattering accentuation. Just lovely.
Black was also incorporated throughout, but worked among the pastels. Not only did everything lay beautifully, each piece looked comfortable to wear. We already cannot wait for spring to arrive. True treasures. fdmLOVES HOUGHTON Spring 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
