Houghton RTW Spring 2015 NYFW
Street chic with a romantic sway at Houghton SS15. Designer Katharine Polk let loose the grungy side of girly with lounge-like separates and modest dresses. Ultra femme features like silky fabrics and laces with baby doll charm complemented discreet nods to boyish charm. There is an element of sophistication blended with an adventuresome approach to easy style.
The color palette was mostly dark with much of the collection in black and navy. A handful of brighter shades rounded out the vignette to provide a lighter vibe to the collection. The designer kept things clean by focusing on structure, or lack there of, with a range of ensembles spanning from boxy tops to draped bottoms. A large ply plaid proved a surprisingly suitable print to sneak on to the scene. fdmLOVES Houghton RTW Spring 2015 NYFW selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Sarah A. Freiseis.
