founder DAVID KARP leaves tumblr

Though this news doesn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy, I think there will be a new chapter… David Karp– the young fabulous creator of tumblr leaves after 11 years. Technically, his last year is this 2017 year.  In a statement to the tumblr team, David references the  “…Artists, writers, creators, curators and crusadors who helped redefine our culture, and we have helped empower…”

My favorite platform to explore and curate my blog(s) to date, I have had the honor to have been a community based #fashion editor for a few years while tumblr was growing.  Thanks to the amazing synergy at tumblr, the creative vibes, the creators,  and leaders like Valentine Uhovski – it’s been an awesome spot to mingle with true creatives + fashion enthusiasts.  I wonder what’s next with young David… (he is just 30ish?).

Valentine Uhovski, tumblr’s original evangelist and now Culture, follows with.. “..a privilege of working with this gent for almost 6 years. @david might be moving on officially, but he has imagined, built, nurtured, and, enabled the most amazing digital community ever assembled for true iconoclasts, creators, artists, and lovers. That canvas is beautiful and eternal.”

V continues… “He’s Tumblr’s truest poet and ambassador, having personally met and listened to thousands of unicorns that need this place like oxygen. We also got to do some incredible things together (briefly meeting Beyoncé comes to mind), and still wound up on the L train after many memorable nights.

He’s eloquent, eternally curious, and humble. David is also freakishly young, which means he’s just getting started. Hopefully eternally in this city that we both love so much.”

DAVID – I will miss seeing you in the shadows David at all the events… though I have a feeling you will be still visiting events x collabs? (me) with Valentine Uhovski at NYFW ss18 shows at TUMBLR HQ.
