FALL 2015 RUNWAY highlights: NYFW vol 1
Alot more looks from the fall 2015 runway collections + presentations shown during NYFW. A variety pack showed downtown (very west) at Pier 59, and a bit more uptown, while others including young designers were on the final Lincoln center runway. Here’s a glimpse of our travels viewing the collections of Taoray Wang, Josie Natori, Katie Gallagher, Brandon Sun, Hanley Mellon, Jay Godfrey, Roomeur, and Mark and Estel.
Taoray Wang showed her namesake label for the second time in New York. Artful elegance with minimalistic appeal ruled the runway. Tailored pieces are clean and crisp against playful over-sized elements like collars on coats, and sassy in motto. Textured fabrics and chunky knits added intrigue to the streamlined skirts and dresses. The polka dot pops made for a surprisingly delightful addition.
An exotic medley of rich robe-like fashion at Josie Natori Fall 2015. Gilded girls rocked gold leaf hairdos and glitzy eye makeup to complement the look. Circle skirts and sheaths have heightened drama with pieced detailing. Floor length styles were statement makers, especially the all black laser cut bodice with feathered bottom. Casual combos got interesting with fluffy wraps, shawls, and an exaggerated fez to top it off.
Hanley Mellon’s husband-wife design duo channel their travels to create inspiring global style. The Fall 2015 collection was inspired by Antwerp, the imaginative collection was expressed to perfection with a pinch of sass. With a staged scene referencing a transcontinental passage, the presentation showcased high style. Exceptionally executed silhouettes touted tude of a girl on the go.
Seriously shaped with flair at Katie Gallagher Fall 2015. Black with a dash of red in a variety of both sleek styles and billowy structures. Dreamily draped with drama, fairy tale elements laced the scene. Romantic caplets and hoods added a playful tone while structured overcoats gave depth and slim fit turtlenecks tapped into a smart side. A bit of throwback fit mixed with modern moments. Sensual slips and sheer selections are simply marvelous alone or in layers, very feminine, but somehow not flashy.
Black is best on black, Brandon Sun’s Fall 2015 collection channeled the artwork of Pierre Soulages. Layers of texture from lasercut lace to quilted and patchworked treatments added dimension to streamlined silhouettes. Unique looks combined for a capsule that exuded elegance with an edge.
A charming selection of feminine forms at the Jay Godfrey Fall 2015 presentation. Suit inspired silhouettes ruled the fresh take on a flashback scene in hot pink! Silken elements yielded 70s panache with tied bows on blouses and wide hems on trousers from bells to palazzos. Floral prints were fun but not filly while asymmetrical elements were fierce. Bodices, high slits, and sheer piecing added sex appeal for a full throttle fashion appeal.
Beautifully hip and poised for posh at Roomeur Fall 2015. The collection was a fine assortment of a alternative chic with a luxury feel for the cool crew by designer Hagit Kassif. Circular patterned embroideries on green and black were the future of fashionable motto while a pale pink printed geo expression played fanciful in skits and suits. Styled with undertones of sophistication, this clever capsule exuded
The musician/designer team Mark Tango and Estel Day combine their passions for a wearable artistic expression. Mark and Estel is both the name of the brand, and the band! With a rocker spirit and romantic charm, the do create a collection that hits high notes with the groupies and girlie girls alike. Sassy from top to toe, this kind of glam is club worthy street chic.
