clear KAI MILLA ss16
The architectural and elegant Baccarat Hotel couldn’t have been a more perfect venue for Kai Milla’s CLEAR | Kai Milla ss16 presentation during NYFW. Classic silhouettes updated with modern detailing, fresh color combinations, and unique fabrications dominated Kai’s new contemporary collection.
The intimate gathering was a perfect setting. Our editor (Brigitte) got a close look at the stunning details + fabrics while catching up with Kai.
Bringing the luxury to an everyday possibility, the beautiful separates, dresses, and jumpsuits came in a largely neutral palette of stone and blush, offset with strong accents of bright scarlet and cobalt. Fine cotton shifts displayed layered geometric panelling altering neutrals and bright hues. Delicate, airy fabrics like organza and silk were artfully manipulated into ruffles and pleats that gave looks a 3-D effect.
The collection’s strength lies within its ability to integrate seamlessly into the lives of its wearer. Each look was simultaneously sculptural and flattering to the female form– the result was a sophisticated and fresh take on wearable pieces. clear KAI MILLA ss16 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Christine Buzan.
