CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

CHRISTIAN SIRIANO spring 2013

Christian Siriano went on pointe for spring 2013 ! Giving us his variation of the off-duty dancer who is easygoing yet always chic, sourcing his inspiration from the performance of The Dream by the American Ballet Theatre.  His access to the ABT costume archives allowed him to take the recital looks to the runway.  Pointe shoes were given sharpness in contrast to their sweet femininity through the addition of a heel.

The entrance of studs on footwear took us out of the studio and onto the street, but the soft hues sustained the underlying elegance. The clean color palette of whites and watercolor-like pastels were harmonious within the collection, by taking shape on everything from defined shifts to flowing A-line dresses. The waist took center stage with peplum and cinched jackets shaping an eye-catching silhouette. Blazers, cropped trousers, and oxfords incorporated a slight androgynous attitude while its metallic hues provided that pop of color + tied seamlessly within the collection.

Feathers and full fabrics energized the evening looks, transforming the daytime ease into a night on the town. As the show continued, the hemlines started elongating, transitioning the focus from the stage to the audience. An asymmetrical white cocktail dress paired with oxfords and translucent button-downs shaped a sense of whimsey and playfulness, adding to the ongoing lightness. A great swirl of pinks, blues, and purples stepped out in a high volume gown, taking the light hues from the former looks to the max. The more the merrier, as not one, but a trio of finale looks gave us a dazzling finale of showstoppers for all ballerinas on or off-stage!  Written by Mary Anderson, fdm selects from Christian Siriano Spring 2013 runway by Brigitte Segura.
