CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Chanel Resort 2014 | singapore + cricket

For Chanel Resort 2014, Karl’s done it again! The creative pony ventures to Singapore this season, combining the island’s ease with a much loved pastime – cricket.  Joan Smalls, Cara Delevingne, and Stella Tennant put on their game face for the strut down the runway, alongside a handful of guys.

Iconic pieces (think pearls, Chanel 2.55 bag, and jacket) didn’t stay on the sidelines, but rather were up for bat. Classic Chanel was a lot more understated in this collection, rather letting youthful Cricket colors and references ring through. Coco Chanel, who was all for adapting men’s styles for women, has led into sports influences for Karl Lagerfeld’s interpretation. Even if you’re not that familiar with that ballgame on this side of the pond, the knit sweaters and crisp white palazzo trousers  (sans the shin pads) will win you over. The lax look means otherwise structured skirt suits flowed to the floor. An extreme boatneck showcased some sophisticated skin this season, by putting the pieces in the house tweed. Karl amped up the modern look with full trousers and belly-baring jackets for bold summer days.

The lines between sexes pieces blurred, as the sleek blazers and sweaters could easily be thrown onto any of the closing lace gowns. The iconic seafaring sailor t-shirt got even fuller this season, and the sleeveless touch hinted to the Chanel updated look. The collection began in all whites, yet Lagerfeld warmed us up to the bold fabrications, patterns and embroidery… business as CHANEL usual. fdmLOVES selects from Chanel Resort 2014 by Brigitte Segura, written by Mary Anderson.
