Blackstones Launch Party in NYC
CATCHING UP: just a couple of days ago, Blackstones Hairdressing held a launch party in NYC for the salon’s brand new expansion. Owner Joey Silvestera and wife Alina looked radiant as they mingled with their guests over this exciting new addition. DJ Paul Sevigny and Paul Banks of Interpol provided the party’s music, while Helena Christensen, Seth Weisser, Gerard Maione, Scott Lipps along with our editor, Brigitte Segura attended the rockin’ event in celebration.
“I wanted to create an experience that was different from anything else in New York.” – JS
Blackstones first location in the East Village opened in 2007. There might be loads of salons in NYC, but trust us, these are extra special. Channeling the mysterious vintage macabre of years before, Blackstones resembles Old World “curiosity cabinets,” like the precursors to museums. They’re adorned with antiques from Silvestera’s own collection. Take a walk inside and you’ll find old grooming tools that date back to the 1920s. They even sell their “Five Wits” refill/recyclable haircare products.
The haircut itself is an exciting adventure. Don’t come in here if you’re just looking for a replica of a celebrity’s hairstyle. Silvestera finds the story in every cut, providing his clients with a truly memorable experience. Ideas stem from the street and many historical, literary, and cinematic lookbooks. If you want a Clara Bow do, or one resembling a 1940s gangster, these salons are your havens. For more information, go to blackstonesnyc. Blackstones Hairdressing is located at 19 East 7th Street (btw 2nd and 3rd Avenue) New York, New York. fdm LOVES blackstones Hairdressing selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
