Balmain Spring 2014 PFW
Sporty casual has been the underlying theme this season. The Balmain Spring 2014 collection is the best example of this. Known for the house’s high drama glamour, designer Olivier Rousteing decided to turn down the bling and presented a delicious set of laid-back chic pieces that are fabulous. The 80s silhouettes and ruffles harken back to a time of playful, music-blasting fun. It was a surprise change for this brand, but one that really nailed it.
There are some gems in this set, including pied-de-poule prints and checkered woven fabrics in blue and pink. Sweatshirts and overalls in a Balmain show? Yes, we’re being serious and they’re too sleek. The black leather overalls flatter gorgeously, as the gold detailed buttons make it all ‘pop.’ Quilted bomber jackets give the spring outerwear a little high-fashion lift that’s really superb. Even denim received a bit of shine as it was reprocessed in silk and even trimmed with gold chain. So many little details that really make this jubilant collection all come together as one memorable piece. Loving this direction. CLICK image below to get a view from show.
Never missing a beat, the beading and sparklers on formal dresses really soar, for those who love traditional Balmain. Glitzy or casual, we’ll always be on board with this house. fdmLOVES BALMAIN Spring 2014 written by Allison Ripa.
