BACKSTAGE highlights + details London ss15 vol. 2
Highlights from London We couldn’t resist sharing these beauties: Diverse and enchanting London brought its fashion week to life with an energetic fun-filled series of shows for ss15. Backstage revealed models getting dolled up and smiling before the exit to the runway . On the LFW catwalk there were enough candy colors to satisfy a sweet tooth and fun accessories like the giant bows Sibling adorned the tops of all their models heads with. Adding to the colorful atmosphere Peter Pilotto, Roksanda Ilincic and Holly Fulton produced funky vibes through bold colors geometric patterns and retro prints.
Other vivacious prints could be seen in the collections of Mary Katrantzou, Simone Rocha and Giles whose looks included wild cheetah print gowns. Matthew Williamson took inspiration from peacock feathers to create a refreshing collection fulfilled with with floral print and blue red and green hues. School kid chic was also an enjoyable trend that made its rounds with Anya Hindmarch’s pencil case toting bags and Preen’s lux rucksacks.
Clean-cut silhouettes and neutral tones were a cool contrast from Margaret Howell and Emilia Wickstead as were the chic styles by Daks, Jonathan Saunders, J.W. Anderson and Julien Macdonald. The opulent collections by Thomas Tait and Osman were real stunners and Emilio de la Morena was a sight to behold with its air of eighties influence. David Koma, Mulberry and Trager Delaney added to the lux wear. The art of baring it all was also on display with labels like Christopher Kane and Erdem going sheer sans undergarments along with pasties Tom Ford style.
In a much welcomed twist Richard Nicoll joined Marchesa (yes in London) and Antonio Berardi amongst flirty and feminine collections while Nasir Mazhar and Fashion East took a more masculine approach that was urban and grunge inspired. KTZ and Ashley Williams were amongst the urban and eclectic. Attitude-ridden fur vests and leopard print were killer looks from Shrimps. And of course it wouldn’t be punk without Vivienne Westwood in the mix with Kensington Leverne snapping the unique designer’s collection.
Never a dull moment, photographers including Daniel Sims, Kensington Leverne, and Shaun James Cox captured all the vibrant and upbeat aesthetics beautifully. It was an outing saturated with funky positive vibes and London renewed its position as fashion setter. Kissing goodbye to the show-off, London Fashion Week was cool and casual- refreshing and upbeat. BACKSTAGE highlights + details London ss15 vol. 2 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Andrea Porro.
