CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Roberto Cavalli Spring 2014 MFW

Fashion and film have always gone hand-in-hand. Seeing that bond come alive again is a special thing. Channeling the movie sirens of years past, Roberto Cavalli‘s Spring 2014 collection was deeply inspired by the cinematography of movies. Long silhouettes and beaded embellishments make this set profoundly feminine.

As a cinematographer, lighting is everything, and Cavalli made sure the same glorious effect was ever-present on the runway for spring.

Silhouettes are drop-dead gorgeous in so many variations, all completely alluring. The ‘silver’ in silver screen is a prominent shade, while light pastels in pink, pearl grey, mint and light blue accent black and white beautifully. So many of the dresses contain gorgeous embellishments, many made out of satin crystals and metal suspensions, Mukesh techniques applied. Fuzzy one-shoulder detailing also ‘wows.’  Things feel geometric but they lay on the models including sasha luss,  lindsey wixson, Ondria Hardin and gaby hanne odiele beautifully.  Often times resembling mermaids, Jacquard patterns and embellishments appear, along with this designer’s animal-print trademark, this time in leather forms. Snake, iguana and crocodile patchwork come alive on pants and stunning jackets…ferocity chic!

New accessories are just as stellar as the clothing. The Hera and Dea bags represent animals in the wild. Crystals bring the small animal jewelry pieces to life. Plus, those Bombshell sunglasses are Hollywood hot. With the iridescent silver lenses, they’ll make any [species] green with envy. fdmLOVES ROBERTO CAVALLI Spring 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
