JACKIE ROGERS rocking the drama

Catching up with Jackie Rogers:  The designer best-known for her bold designs and fabric selection presented her ss16 collection just a few days ago.  The intimate gathering in a townhouse was set midtown at the former home of Elizabeth Taylor and Mike Todd.  Paying  homage to the works of artist Salvador Dali, with whom Rogers established a friendship with while she lived in Paris, the collection boasted in elegant ruffles, oversized bows, and sparkled lip motifs.

Rogers, often referred to as “America’s Coco Chanel,” likes to say, “I don’t believe in fashion, I believe in style…”

Jackie,  who started as a menswear designer at the suggestion of Chanel, was inspired by Dali’s works.  Referencing the artist’s iconography in the collection coupled with Roger’s sumptuous fabrics including gabardine, lamé and silk chiffon + expansion of the burlap jackets, beautiful structured designs + ornate dresses captured our attention.

The elegant aesthetic and signature Jackie Rogers craftsmanship remains in her design, as Rogers continues to use “sewing techniques she perfected while working with Coco Chanel at her Paris studio.”

Adding to the Salvador Dali theme of the night, contortionist Natasha King performed at the event.Notable attendees included: Mario Buatta (Interior Designer), Jean Shafiroff (Philanthropist), Ashlee White (Reality TV Personality), Paul Westlake (Photographer), Jessica Smith (Stylist), Erik Jens (CEO, ABN AMRO International Diamond & Jewelry Group), Carmen D’Alessio, Kathy and Gary Andreassen and Hayley Henning (VP, True North Gems).
