BALMAIN AW13 PFW
One of our favorites for the Fall 2013 season. A majorly funky power play by Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing with his AW13 show in Paris. He let the good times role in developing an imaginative collection that mixed 70s, sci-fi, and a little Prince of Arabia with modern charm. It takes time to decipher the genius here, but once you get it – your hooked… just like us!
The exaggerated elements were impactful, hence big boxy shoulders and shapely hips. The layering on top of the structured volume as seen on Karlie Kloss were more for show than functionality. From the draped diaper into a peg leg pieces to miniskirts an exotic flavor filled the scene. A variety of metallic fabrics added sparkle and shine, while treatments like quilting created an intriguing interest.
Accessorized with wild wide belts the ladies strutted with sass in hip-high suede boots in the super fashionable futuristic disco. The wet slicked back hair by Sam McKnight was sleek and the make-up by Tom Pecheux staying natural, the beauty bits didn’t fight with the fashions, but rather helped to develop the style of look as eccentric chic rather than costume-like. fdmLOVES Balmain AW13 – Paris Fashion Week selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Sarah Freiseis.
