ALICE + OLIVIA resort 2015

Pack your bags, next vacation season you can be sure to travel in style with the Pre-Spring 2015 collection at alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet. This multifaceted collection is the outcome of Bendet’s globe-trotting inspirations. There are fun prints and exciting styles that will spark a desire to hop on a plane and go international!  The self-assured, feminine sportswear is a lively rendition on the wardrobe of a young Jacqueline and Lee Bouvier, who documented their travels in the classic 1951 picture book “One Special Summer.”

Intense hues of azure, vermilion and poppy provide the foundation for cool color-blocked ensembles. Black and white is another motif, in brazen awning stripes or high-contrast floral prints. Texture is rampant and makes classics feel new by way of a high-shine croc-stamped leather, nude lace shot with red to create depth and richness, and knits that mimic jacquards.

Print is bold and alive in wild botanical-style prints and bursted polka dots. Try to mix prints for a spirited effect that has a personal touch, either in suit looks or separates. Novelty pieces appear in a deceiving shift dress and a sequin-encrusted sheath with figural designs that resemble an assortment of collected souvenir badges. An enhanced photoprint depicting the famous cliffside houses of Italy’s Cinque Terre invokes Bendet’s love of travel.

The collection’s globe-trotting spirit is embodied by one special suite of items in the collection: a top, skirt and dress produced in partnership with Piece and Co., which pairs fashion brands with female-run artisan collectives in the developing world. The custom-designed, hand-woven textile from Oaxaca, Mexico gives an authenticity to the eclectic mix of the season and also harnesses the power of spreading kindness, which is one of Stacey Bendet’s core values.
