CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Costello Tagliapietra backstage beauty + fall 2013 runway highlights

Design duo Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra have a special touch, that dressmaking je ne se quoi. Their Costello Tagliapietra line is tried and true of pretty done right. The Fall 2013 collection shown at NYFW lived up to the label’s well-built reputation.. Draped with purpose, the silhouettes captured femininity. We took a little peek backstage before the show to look at the hair, make-up and nails designed to go with the fall 2013 collection.

Vee shapes exposed the décolletage while nipped waists accentuated the form with poise. Knit layers like caplets and sweaters added a seasonal feel, as did the earthy autumn meets jewel toned color palette. Printed pieces with the usual artsy quality were applied charmingly, and while dresses dominated, mix and match ensembles worked in nicely while belts, sometimes thick with ties, accessorized casually. The looks got some extra attitude by way of models including this season’s regular, Isabella, Nykhor Paul, Mariah Morisson, Akuol de Mabior, Chrystal Copland, Maria Borges, Lena Lomako, and Kristel van Valkenhoef that vibed off the collection as they strutted with style.

The pre-show scene was filled with energy backstage. Maki for MAC created a beautiful face featuring bright fuchsia/red matte lips. Essie took care of nails, led by Michelle Saunders, our Editor-in Chief Brigitte Segura was treated to a manicure backstage with the pinkish champagne Costello nail color while we conducted interviews. Speaking of… we got a chance to catch up with lead hair stylist Nelson Vercher of Rita Hazan Salon. He used Rene Furterer products to create the texturized low pony look. Vercher said that in speaking with the designers he was able get a feel for the look right away, “the girl is quite serious, refined and polished, but she is about to bust loose, I’m calling it psycho glamour.” Interestingly enough he was inspired by something very disturbing, saying, “I kept thinking Manson girls, because they were always so beautiful even thought they were psycho, their hair always looked great.”
