John Galliano AW13 Paris Fashion Week
Held at the visually magnificent venue, Le Centorial, the John Galliano collection is no-nonsense for Fall 2013. The designer behind the label, Bill Gaytten, added some tough love to the traditionally drama laced look aimed at the hopelessly romantic. Front row featured model Adriana Karembeu, U.S. based jewelry designers Danielle and Jodie Snyder of Dannijo, and a host of French talent including actors Lambert Wilson and Elijah Semhoun, as well as recording artist Alizée.
Simple and striking with hard lines and purposeful with distinct shaping – the silhouettes were sharp, but tastefully so. Seamed with finesse, and draped with a deliberate hand, the looks were modernly clean. Dresses with ruching down the center or at the side had a classic feel, while asymmetric volume at the hip made for artsy. Several pairs of wide legged cropped pants had a structured almost architectural composition as did T-shaped tops and cocoon-like sheaths. Textured elements, colorful printing, and sheer pleated paneling teased a tiddy-bit of playful. Styled with ankle boots, and caps on occasion, plus bizarrely painted on eyebrows, together with the fashions they captured the moodiness of the vision. fdmloves selects from JOHN GALLIANO aw13 by Brigitte Segura, written by Sarah A.
