GEOFFREY MAC FALL 2012
For his state-of-the-art Fall 2012 collection at the MBFW tents, the hip surrealistic designer Geoffery Mac was captivated by hybrid sculpture artist Dev Harlan’s three-dimensional polychromatic art insatllations this season. Using Harlan as an artistic muse, undoubtedly aroused futuristic unconventional visions to Mac’s creative flair.. Spawning savvy functional unorthodox silhouettes in array of magnified shoulders in abstract structural shapes adjoined in kaleidoscope color patterns and far-out textures. Enticed by the natural components of the human form, Mac was compelled to introduce a more neutural flesh tone color palette integrated with his signature psychedelic neon hues for Fall. Editorial mass appeal? Absolutely! but don’t write off Mac as a one hit note…this ultra-modern urbane collection still gives the downtown chicster mass wearability. Conscious fit tube dresses with cylinder cut out frame details at unexpected but welcome points on the body, along with tailored fit crop jackets in smooth sleek leathers, textured latex, and skittle colored wools were an instant dilation of the pupils. Amongst the collection a-line asymmetrical pieces with angular leather pipping details are guarantee success pieces, welcoming all body frames. MAC tells us: “As a designer form must follow function. The garment must explain what movements you are trying to express in the human body. I’m constantly pulling from the past to prepare for the future.” What makes a designer sustain in this global market is being a bonifide taste-maker.. No matter how cutting edge this cultivated designer’s line may appeal, one things for certain it’s always done dashingly chic.
No wonder why he’s the go-to-boy for A-Lister’s Lady Gaga and Britney Spears.. Pull off the veil fashionistas! Geoffery Mac is the future! by Anthony Pedraza
