Norma Kamali updates iconic 1980s sweats collection with a fresh twist for 2026

Norma Kamali brought her iconic 1980s Sweats collection into the present, offering a modern update that felt both comfortable and versatile at NYFW 2026. The collection was split into three distinct sections: Norma Kamali Sweats, Norma Kamali Lifestyle, and Wardrobe X Norma Kamali/Swim—each focusing on easy-to-wear, everyday luxury.

I was especially drawn to the new takes on sweatshirt fabrics. Highlights included a puff sleeve sweatshirt, which was both relaxed and elevated in its design. There was also a fabulous black lace piece that added a touch of sophistication, perfectly balancing softness with a little edge. Great to layer and dress up an outfit. I loved the metallic silver fabrics, which gave a fluid, shimmering effect that moved beautifully, adding a little glamour to the collection. And some pink pieces with a soft, fuzzy texture were a playful nod to the comfort-driven aesthetic Kamali is known for.

Displayed on mannequins throughout the presentation, the collection featured a color palette of white, silver, pink, and black, with signature fluid jersey and playful casual pieces including alot of lace. Ruched, layered, cut just right – Kamali’s ability to make comfort elevated while still being completely wearable and mostly washable is what continues to set her apart in the fashion world. It’s the perfect balance of relaxed and chic, showing that style doesn’t need to compromise comfort. I loved it!
