JONATHAN SIMKHAI pre-fall 2013
Too cool for school in a unisex-ed up style from NY up and coming designer Jonathan Simkhai. Inspired by the British ska movement of the 80’s and the rebellious fashions of that time, the Pre-Fall 2013 collection transforms an almost edgy prepster menswear look into a care-free chic that’s modern. Giving us a moody palate, murky hues of teal and pea green work with black, brown, and navy creating a balanced blend of romance and rock.
Loose and layered for casual, more fitted for suited form- the textured fabrics and leathery movements add intrigue to more girly dresses and skirts. A little bit of space age, a dash of moto, and the presence of color blocking add elements of interest to the ready to wear looks.
About the designer: having studied at Parsons + FIT, he launched his first collection for women in 2010. Classic men’s fashion fabrics are often integrated in the creation of the label’s womenswear silhouettes. JONATHAN SIMKHAI PRE-FALL 2013. Written by Sarah A. Freiseis
